Trust God!

Have you ever asked God - "If You're really God, then why is this happening to me? If You really love me like everyone tells me You do, then why haven't you brought me out of this awful circumstance when I know You could? " "Why haven't you brought healing to this one I am so faithful to pray for every day? I see you heal the one in the next bed at the hospital, but, you leave the one I pray for suffering, or dying." "Where are you in my life when everything is so topsy turvy and I am so afraid?" . . . . . etc. etc. etc.

Well, I believe that there can be no trust unless you have some unanswered questions in your life. If you know everything in your life, then there's no reason to trust God. Don't waste your time trying to figure things out that only God knows, because He's not telling!

I hope you understand that trusting God will change your life. It will set you free from the things you don't understand. And you may not be moving forward, not be able to move on, because you've got some of these "why's" and unanswered questions hidden away on the inside of you.

If you want to go full force ahead with God, then you need to stop continually asking questions that only He can answer. Stop demanding to know why, and instead, trust Him. I believe that trusting God is the answer to every problem you and I have in our lives. And it doesn't matter what kind of trouble it is. If we trust God, we can be set free from the burdens of our problems - set free to enjoy His peace and joy!

Can any of you publish some stories here of trusting God in your life?

I have a trusting God story, well a couple. Here is one that happened very early on, before I even prayed the sinner's prayer. My old Bonneville was broke down with a bad fuel pump. I could not afford the mechanic to get her fixed. I worked with a reverend from St. John's Baptist Church. Reverend Tony came into my office regularly to talk about God and faith, etc. Well, he came in and we prayed about all my troubles. Then he told me, "Now trust that God is going to take care of your car so you can safely get to work. Go out and buy the fuel pump and He will make sure it get put into your car." I did that. I went and bought the fuel pump. Many many many days went by. Then one Saturday there was an early morning knock on my door. There stood Ed. He was a young boy back in the day when I worked at the 7-11 convenience store. I hadn't seen him in years. There he stood, a handsome young man and still the sweet generous kid I used to tease when he came into the store. He had come to fix my car! He had stopped at the Chevron for gas and saw my sister, Teresa. He asked after all our family and when she said my car was broke down, he got my address and came by to fix it. Now that was a miraculous answer to a prayer and an action I took in trust that I would get that sort of answer. God is GREAT!

WHEW! MICHELLE that is powerful. You going out to buy the pump and trusting God to send a person to fix it. I am very touched. Thank you for sharing.

It is really interesting that you chose the subject of trust for this post, Lonnie. A week or so ago, I found different scriptures on trust and read them over every day for four days or so. Trust is tough when you are in those times in your life when anything and everything that could possibly go wrong, is going wrong. But God wants us to trust in Him and His ability to take care of us. In the tough times that are ahead of us, we are going to have to understand what it means to trust in the Lord. Trust in the promises of God. The Bible is full of them! Our God is a Faithful God.

What a great story Michelle! Thank you for sharing it. Storis like this sure do encourage all of us to trust God. He IS an awesome God, and He DOES care about every little thing we are going through. He just wants us to trust that He is there, and will keep His promises!

Sharon - could you post some (or all) of those scriptures so we can all read them, or so we can look them up and pray with them, too?

If there's anything I'm hearing in my Spirit from the Lord this past year, it's to study His word, go where He leads us, stay close to Him, and lean on Him for your strength. Pray for discernment and for wisdom. We need Him. We'll need to trust Him - as never before!

Lonnie, I wrote those scriptures down, I KNOW I wrote those scriptures down -- but where I put them? I do not know. I just looked up "trust" in the concordence in the back of the Bible and went from there. Now that we have the great tool that you sent this morning ("The Bible on one page) we can write in "Trust" and let the computer look them all up for us! The computer will even put the scripture right there on your screen!

Every month for quite awhile now, God has put me to the test financially. Every month I worry and then turn it over to God. Every month I get by somehow. If only I could learn how to do it without the worrying part. Sometimes I am totally in awe of how he takes care of us. I urge everyone to give their finances to God. Although he never trusts me with too much, I haven't missed a meal yet!

(oops - that was me, Linda -- I forgot to put my name in the box)

God sure does care about His people! Here's an example from today:

Linda and Jade came over this afternoon and we watched a movie on our enhanced sound. After they left, Dad and I tried to watch football. BUT - we could not, for the life of us, figure out how to get the sound back on the TV! We tried everything. We were just about to watch football without sound, when the back door opens and in pops Jade! He had forgotten his cell phone, but I'm sure God provided him just when we were getting so frustrated and couldn't figure out the sound on our TV. He had it working in a minute or two! See? Isn't God awesome! And so is Jade! I told him he was the answer to our prayers!

Linda, I love how you said "God doesn't trust me with too much.." ($$ you mean). It's true - more $ means more responsibility with it. Kay gave me a book for my birthday called The Shack which is all about trusting God even when things don't make sense. It's hard to do, but God had never ever let me down!

Lots of times, when you were babies and toddlers and kids and teens, and yes, even as adults - I am in prayer for you - pleading with God to let you be okay! He has never let me down yet, and I trust He never will. Our God is an Awesome God!

It is such a comfort to know that someone is praying for me! Often, when I pray for someone, I think that I may be the only person who has ever prayed for that one. Sometimes I think that's why God puts people in our lives - so we will pray for them.

Oops, so I was going to say, thank you, mom, for praying for me!!

I know a story of trust that was years and years ago...I trusted God to help me graduate from RMC. On graduation day, Dr. Bross came up to Mom and Dad and shook their hand for 10 minutes saying, "It's a miracle, just a miracle"
Ha Ha Ha! It was a miracle! It was a gift from God and it took a lot of trust!

That's a good one, Karen. We were so proud of you getting that degree. Still are, of course.

Janet used to share the story that she would pray for a man and God gave her Arjay! (This was way before Eric) Sometimes when we pray for something we want, God has a plan that we can not even comprehend, but he really knows what he's doing.

I watched Joel Olsteen on TV and here is part of his message, very touching:

Stop speaking about your problems
and start speaking to your problems.
Stop telling God how big your problems are
and start telling your problems how Big God Is!
John 10 :10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full in abundance until it overflows!
