Day of prayer for Chuck and family- Thursday, March 26

Psalm 16:11 - "You will show me the path of life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever." (Read all of psalm 16 and share your thoughts, please).

Isaiah 40:31 - "They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles wings; they will run and not grow weary, walk and not faint".

In another bible the words "wait upon the Lord" were "hope in the Lord". That is so true. When we can look beyond our circumstances, beyond our surroundings and HOPE in the Lord, knowing that He is here with us and that He is at the end of our earthly journey, too, that does give us strength to go on.

Waiting on the Lord means directing your attention TO Him in hopeful anticipation of what He will do. It means trusting Him with every fiber of your being, instead of trying to figure things out by yourself.

God says: "I have promised many blessings to those who wait on me: renewed strength, hope, living above your circumstances, awareness of my continual presence. It also helps you to enjoy Me. In My presence is fullness of joy. It helps you be ready to do my will!"

A prayer for Natasha, John, and baby Kai - "Help this little family, Lord, to experience your presence in their lives. Help them to know the joy of knowing you in a personal way. Give them that desire to be with you in prayer every day. We pray for good jobs for Natasha and John so they can save some money and be able to get their own place to live. In Jesus' name we ask. Amen

This really did speak to me. I just went through a tough week. I was stressed and tired and feeling very lonely. It all began because for a brief moment I took my eyes off the Lord and tried to work things out myself. What a horrible mistake. Becasue while I was "right", I forgot where my strength originates. God is faithful and will carry me when I am too weak to walk. He is my refuge, and an ever present help.
Thanks Aunt Lonnie. Chuck and his family are sure blessed to have a prayer warrior like you watching their backs.

The really cool thing about being able to "wait on the Lord" (or trust in the Lord, or put your hope in the Lord) is that, if you can truly truly do that, you are not anxious about what is around the corner. You are able to give it to God and wait to see what happens. You know without a shadow of a doubt that no matter what lies around that corner, you are going to be okay because you are covered by the blood of the Lamb.

Thank you for this wonderful lesson, Lonnie.

Thank you guys, too! We are heading to Boise in the morning. Staying overnight in Pocatello, and arriving in Boise on Tuesday. We are driving. I am always such a nervous wreck while being a passenger (for some reason I'm okay if I can drive, but not as a passenger. Weird, huh?) So what you say here really is what I needed to hear tonight. I will practice "waiting on the Lord" while travelling down the road. Thanks.

In Psalm 16 is this line, verse 2: "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing."

I was looking at all my "stuff" not too long ago, thinking about what a pain it would be to move it all. (I'm not moving, but I have been thinking about how nice it woudl be to have a house with a garage.) There is nothing in this house that I want, except my bike (which hangs on the wall in my dining room) and this computer. These 2 things don't even compare to what I have in the Lord.

As for waiting on the Lord - I have often wondered about what is my responsibility while I wait. I know I should do something. I can't sit around doing nothing... but I don't want to take over, either. Any thoughts out there about that?

You go on with your daily life, and you remember to thank and praise God. In the case of an addiction, you must do a lot of footwork and a lot of hard work while you are trusting in the Lord to bring you out of the hell of addiction. If you are physically ill and feasr it may be serious, you are responsible for setting up appointments and finding out what the problem is as you hope in the Lord to heal you. If you have applied for your dream job, or to purchase your dream home, you spend time in prayer about it; and listen to what the Lord has to say. Does any of that make sense? You can't just go sit on the beach and wait for God to send a miracle your way, you need to do your part while He works it out.

Lonnie, I read this in a book about fear:

Remember Passover when the Jewish people smeared the blood of a lamb over their doorways so the angel of death would know to pass them by? Well, when you begin to feel fearful, close your eyes and envision your mind with a doorway into it, then say in your head "The blood of the Lamb protects the doorway to my mind." That ol' devil can't get past that door with his fear when he sees Jesus standing guard! I used this technique when we went to the ocean a few years back (NOT the Oregon trip!) and it got me to the coast and back.

Did you all know that an eagle mother gets her young on her wings and takes them out for a "ride" on her wings, and then at the precise moment, drops them. They go falling falling falling until they learn to flap their wings. They young one who do not get it get swept up by her inches from smashing to the ground. That is what the passage means about eagles. Interesting, HUH!!
