Day of prayer for Linda and family - March 25

Today is the anniversary of our fire that destroyed our home and our possessions. Because of that we moved to Billings. I thank God for being able to move there. I'm sure Linda is, too. She had great experiences of her high school years and made some good friends. Also, she got to live near her cousin Darlene, who she had grown up with in Great falls. Darlene moved to Billings about a year before we did with her family. By the way, that day of our fire - March 25th, 1975, was a very bad snow storm and blizzard. And it is today, too. (Just an interesting date in our history I thought worth mentioning for some reason).

Love always protects you! It's like a coat - a covering over you with a cloak of love. Remember receiving this coat? You were nervous about a job interview, but when you got there it was easy. You were far from home - out of touch with your family and friends, lonely and afraid, but your mom sent a card and letter which comforted you - just when you needed it. You were in court - innocent and accused, a friend, and your sisters stood to defend you. You were covered with encouragement, covered with tender heartfelt care, covered with protection. COVERED WITH A CLOAK OF LOVE.

God says: "Never falter, go forward so boldly, so unafraid. I am beside you to help you, to strengthen you. Wonders have unfolded. Still more will unfold, beyond your dreams, beyond your hopes. ALL IS WELL!"

Great how you led into Linda's personal "fire" by using the house fire that took your entire family into a new life in a new town where you all thrived and grew in love and friendship. That is a really great storytelling. Linda has been thrown into the fiery furnace more than once, eh? From what I read from her, she has such a wonderful wit and powerful faith. She walks through those flames in the protection of a love that never fails. I admire her so much.

Linda's faith is an encouragement to many. God blesses her, and she blesses others.

Mickey, I think you have a gift of writing, like your mom. I love reading what you two write. I love reading what Mom writes, too. So much insight and wisdom!

It is so empowering to know that the Living God of the Universe has our backs! Love is an onion word -there are so many layers to the meaning of love. I like that image of love as a coat.

And do yu know what boggles my mind? That while the God of the univere is listening to and comforting me here in Tacoma, He is also listening to and comforting someone in Africa, and Italy, and Alaska, and Chile...and on and on. But I never feel that I don't have His undivided attention. (I do admit, however, that there are times when I feel like He's put me on hold while He answers another line and then forgets I am hanging on!!) Our God is an Awesome GOD!
