A prayer for Sharon

I know you have another chemo treatment on Tuesday. We are all praying for you. This scripture felt like God was speaking it directly to you, Sharon:

Isaiah 49:19

"Yahweh consoles His people (you, Sharon) and takes pity on those who are afflicted.

I will never forget you, My Sharon.

See, I have branded you on the palms of my hands."

(Rest in my arms, My child.)

June 1 - Chuck and Deedle's 13th anniversary!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, CHUCK AND DEEDLE! You are a great couple.

On Thursday, May 21, here is what I had journaled for my day of prayer for you:

Proverbs 23:22, 24, 25

"Listen to your father who begot you, do not despise your mother in her old age. (You do listen to your dad, and you honor your mom in her old age - Thank you!) The father of the virtuous man will rejoice indeed, he who fathers a wise man will have the joy of it. May you be the joy of your father, the gladness of her who bore you." (Indeed, you are!) You are a good man, Charlie Brown!

God, bless Chuck and Deedle. Thank you for their jobs. Thank you, Lord, for blessing both of them with abilities and talents to do your will. Thank you for bringing them together. Guard their finances. Help their house to sell - and sell fast - at the price they need and ask for it! Thank you, Jesus.

A prayer from the internet of September, 2001.

This prayer is such a good one. As we read it, pray it with all your heart. I am thinking of our upcoming family fun week-end as I pray it. I pray for all of us.

Please take a moment to relax your mind and humble your heart to focus on Christ. Allow God to be the only person on your mind while you read this prayer.

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm.

Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrong doing, and receive the forgiveness of God.

And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example - to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart.

Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.

I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood.

I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that don't believe. But I thank you that I believe.

I believe that God changes people and God changes things.

I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.

I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly.

This is my prayer. In Jesus' name, Amen

Day of prayer for Kay and Russ - May 28, 2009

Tomorrow, May 29, is their anniversary! Happy day to you.

This is the prayer I journaled today for you:

Read Ecclesiasticus (Sirach) chapter 39. These verses - 39 and 41 - especially stood out as I prayed for you: "All the works of the Lord are good, and He will supply every want in due time. So now, sing with all your heart and voice, and bless the name of the Lord."

Remember when you and Linda and Janet and Yo Yo (Linda's parrot) made that cassette tape for us for Christmas about 20 years ago? At the end of it you read Psalm 103. Read it now - it's so appropriate for you and Russ today! It is a wonderful prayer for you to pray in these tough times. (you and all of us as well)

There is a song we used to sing at prayer meeting that is stuck in my mind as I am praying for you. The words are "The Lord is blessing you right now, right now. The Lord is blessing you right now. You may not be able to see all that the Lord is doing for you, but the Lord is blessing you right now."

Praise you, Jesus. Thank you.

A special prayer and scripture for Sharon

From Ecclesiasticus (or Sirach) 38 1-15:

Honor the doctor with the honor that is his due
in return for his services;
for he too has been created by the Lord.
Healing, itself, comes from the Most High,
like a gift from a king.
The doctor's learning keeps his head high,
he is regarded with awe by potentates.
The Lord has brought medicines into existence from the earth,
and the sensible man will not despise them.
Did not a piece of wood once sweeten the water,
thus giving proof of its virtue?
He has also given men (i.e. the doctors) learning
so that they may glory in his mighty works.
He uses them (the medicines) to heal and to relieve pain,
the chemist makes up a mixture from them.
Thus there is no end to his activities,
and through him health extends across the world.

My child, when you are ill, do not be depressed,
but pray to the Lord and he will heal you.
Renounce your faults, keep your hands unsoiled,
and cleanse your heart from all sin.
Offer incense and a memorial of fine flour,
and make as rich an offering as you can afford.
Then let the doctor take over - the Lord created him too -
and do not let him leave you, for you need him.
Sometimes success is in their hands,
since they in turn will beseech the Lord
to grant them the grace to relieve
and to heal, that life may be saved.

(Ecclesiasticus forms part of the Greek Bible, though it does not appear in the Jewish Canon. It was written in Hebrew. It does not appear in some bibles, and does in others. My bible is the New Jeruselum Bible and it is in there. It is one of my favorite books. Lots of good stuff in this book, including the above passage.)

Dear Lord, we ask that you hold Sharon in your tender loving arms while she is having her treatment. Please allow her to know how much she is loved by you and by all who know her. Guide the doctors and nurses and all those in charge of her care. We pray that she will feel your touch and know you are present there in the treatment. Thank you, Jesus, for what you are doing for her now. And thank you for her wonderful family who are carrying her through this time of difficulty in her life. Bless them all. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen!

I love you, Sharon!
