In my prayer this morning, I was lead to this scripture! I was amazed and blessed, as usual.
Here is what it said to us:
"Listen to me, House of Jacob
all you who remain of the House of Israel,
you who have been carried since birth,
whom I have carried since the time you were born. (I see this as the Lord speaking to me
directly, and you, too! God wants us to listen to Him. He wants to let us know how
He has always been with us, and has carried us. Reminds me of the poem "Footprints".)
"In your old age I shall be still the same,
when your hair is grey I shall still support you.
I have already done so, I have carried you,
I shall still support and deliver you."
Isn't this wonderful? God is so good, and so awesome.
I can remember going through tough stuff when I was in high school, and I leaned heavily on Mary, the mother of God. (I hadn't met Jesus, her Son, yet). I felt my Lord was there, protecting and leading me as long as I can remember. I didn't realize this at the time, but now as I look back, I know HE IS STILL THE SAME, and HE IS STILL SUPPORTING ME! And He means this for all of us! Doesn't that just give you goose bumps to know the God we serve is so wonderful and cares so much!
I do feel the aging process harrassing me these days. I told Linda the other day that I I'm getting older, but I'm tired of it, so I don't think I'll do it anymore. I get depressed when I hurt so much, and can't do what I used to do, and then I hear these words through the Bible from my Lord and Savior! This lifted me all day, and I read this scripture several times today to remind me of God's love.
Hallelujiah!

HEY what happened to the post I put here a few days ago....
I said...HEY MOTHER...THANK YOU so much for doing this bible study....I really need this advice and information. You are the best teacher...so please keep it up...I will be your #1 follower...
The wisdom you have because you take the time to listen to God is so helpful to all of us. Thank you for this encouragement. I need it as much as Karen does, and as much as you do. Thank you for sharing!
You are an amazing woman Aunt Lonnie! I often speak of you and your strong, undying faith with my friends. You truly do have a gift and God works through you. I am finally coming to understand the importance of Mary. I believe in the powerful intercession of the blessed Virgin Mary. Her sinless son Jesus would never break a commandment given to him by his Father. I love what these verses from Isaiah 46 have to say and I can see why this would be uplifting to you. I will keep you in my prayers! Please keep sharing.
This is an excellent teaching. I think the Jews have it right with all their annual celebrations that help them focus on what God has done for them. I think one of the first things that fly out the window when we face challenging situations or events, is the knowledge that God is right beside us, going through it with us, our helper in times of duress. We are hard pressed, during those periods of pain, to remember what God has done for us so many times in the past. But the Jewish people call to mind, all year long, how God has saved their people, repeatedly.
I read an article once that said we should all have a mental list, easily recalled, that reminds us of specific past events where God carried us, led us, held us, spoke to us, and triumphed for us. Then when we go through those times of pain, sorrow, indecision, loss, illness, etc., we have a constant reminder that we are not alone, we have never been alone, and we will never be alone. When we can't do it, God can't be stopped. Not ever.
I find great comfort in your teaching today, Aunt Lonnie. I have never understood the Mary thing that is such a huge part of Catholic faith. But I do get how encouraging this teaching is for me.
Thank you for posting it.
I remember when I was little saying prayers...I truly believed God was right there with me...I cold feel His presence. I know I was so much more faithful when I was a youngster. I want to be like that little girl, and believe God is still with me in my old age. We reason too much as adults, and that makes us doubt and become deceived, because Faith does not always sound reasonable...When I seek GOD I am so much better off than when I seek what God can do for me.
Also, I've always felt the presence of a Guardian Angel, or more than one.
I don't know what happened to your post, Karen. Thank you for your encouraging words!
And Debbie, Mickey, Teresa, too! You guys are great teachers, too! Thanks for sharing.
