Biblical Virtue # 8 - Mercy

Prayer: "God, help us always to be merciful, just as our Father is merciful" Luke 6:36.

During this time of lent, God's mercy is so much on our minds as we meditate on the readings and the stations of the cross and all that we do to prepare for the glorious resurrection of our Lord, Jesus. Because God is so merciful and loves us so much, He sent his only begotten son to die on the cross for our salvation. He had mercy on our souls. Thank God. What do you suppose would be our plight if He hadn't gone through with this plan. Have you watched the movie "The Passion of Christ". This is a good time to watch it, and feel it, and pray it. Especially good to watch between noon and 3:00 on Good Friday. A hard one to watch, but it really portrays what Our Lord went through for US!!!! Don't you wonder why? Why would he do that for us. And He did it while we were still sinners! And still does. Our God is a merciful God. He asks that we have mercy on others, just as He has mercy for us!

"Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner. And have mercy on the whole world!"
