A special prayer and scripture for Sharon

From Ecclesiasticus (or Sirach) 38 1-15:

Honor the doctor with the honor that is his due
in return for his services;
for he too has been created by the Lord.
Healing, itself, comes from the Most High,
like a gift from a king.
The doctor's learning keeps his head high,
he is regarded with awe by potentates.
The Lord has brought medicines into existence from the earth,
and the sensible man will not despise them.
Did not a piece of wood once sweeten the water,
thus giving proof of its virtue?
He has also given men (i.e. the doctors) learning
so that they may glory in his mighty works.
He uses them (the medicines) to heal and to relieve pain,
the chemist makes up a mixture from them.
Thus there is no end to his activities,
and through him health extends across the world.

My child, when you are ill, do not be depressed,
but pray to the Lord and he will heal you.
Renounce your faults, keep your hands unsoiled,
and cleanse your heart from all sin.
Offer incense and a memorial of fine flour,
and make as rich an offering as you can afford.
Then let the doctor take over - the Lord created him too -
and do not let him leave you, for you need him.
Sometimes success is in their hands,
since they in turn will beseech the Lord
to grant them the grace to relieve
and to heal, that life may be saved.

(Ecclesiasticus forms part of the Greek Bible, though it does not appear in the Jewish Canon. It was written in Hebrew. It does not appear in some bibles, and does in others. My bible is the New Jeruselum Bible and it is in there. It is one of my favorite books. Lots of good stuff in this book, including the above passage.)

Dear Lord, we ask that you hold Sharon in your tender loving arms while she is having her treatment. Please allow her to know how much she is loved by you and by all who know her. Guide the doctors and nurses and all those in charge of her care. We pray that she will feel your touch and know you are present there in the treatment. Thank you, Jesus, for what you are doing for her now. And thank you for her wonderful family who are carrying her through this time of difficulty in her life. Bless them all. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen!

I love you, Sharon!

Amen. Mom's prayer is what I pray too. Sharon is indeed loved and cherished by all who know her. She is an amazing woman, put on this earth to show others the way by virtue, integrity, compassion, conviction and all that is right and good. She brings us all great joy and happiness and unconditional love. Thank you Lord for blessing us with her in our lives. Keep her comfortable and peaceful today during her treatment, and make her well again.

Amen to that, too, Kay!

How was it today, Sharon? I know your girls are taking good care of you, and that helps me to have peace - knowing they are with you. And your grandkids, too. Let us know how things are, ok?

AMEN! I pray that too.

Thank you all so very much. My Lord was there with me. I didn't get anxious when things were delayed so long. Well, I did a little bit at the very beginning, but that was it. It wasn't busy and crowded in the Chemo Room today, so Teresa and I were able to visit with one another and visit with other patients. Teresa beat me in Scrabble. I'm STILL pouting! People make hats and jewely and scarves and donate them to the cancer patients. I picked one out today. I like it, even though it is more a wintr hat. We even got a free sandwich today and snack and cake! Nice people!

Thank you again for your prayers.

Lonnie this scripture is perfect. I used to wonder why, if you really believed in God, He wouldn't just heal you if it was His will, you shouldn't have to do all that other stuff. WRONG!! And this is a scripture that explains that. Thankyou!!!
