I love that we can be confident when we pray, knowing that He hears us in whatever we ask, and we know in advance that whatever we ask for we have.

So why haven't I won the lottery? I have asked for that!

Weeelllll, in verse 14 there's an if... if we ask according to His will He hears us.

So how can we know His will?

I think to know His will, we have to know God. The only way to know God is to read and study the Bible.

I'm still learning!

Well, I put my comment under the wrong promise. The comment I put under promise #6 is really about promise #7. Oops.

I read your comment, Michelle, for #7, which is posted in #6.

I am so sorry you are lonely. Loneliness is so sad. What did your Doctor say you could do to get around easier? I am praying for a healing for you. God will hear our prayers and He will answer them. I just feel that you will see that healing in a most unexpected way. And it will come through the Dr. Your aloneness is not the what you want, nor should you have to have it. I pray for that healing, too! Thank you for sharing!

This scripture is so full of the promise of answered prayer. This could be a very broad spectrum of answered prayer. I am going to write down here the words from my "inspirational bible" and then share with you what I got from it.

1John 5:13-16
"I write this letter to you who believe in the Son of God so you will know you have eternal life. And this is the boldness we have in God's presence; that if we ask God for anything that agrees with what he wants, He hears us. If we know he hears us every time we ask him, we know we have what we ask from him.'
If anyone see a brother or sister sinning that person should pray, and God will give the sinner life."

I do believe that the most important part of our lives, and the reason we are on this earth is to continue Jesus' mission on earth and that is to lead others to him and eternal life. That is why it says in verse 13 "I write this letter to you WHO BELIEVE IN THE SON OF GOD so you will know you have eternal life." And vs14 this is the boldness we have in God's presence: that if we ask God for anything that agrees with what he wants, (and for sure He wants all of His children to come to Him and the Father)he hears us. vs 15 If we know he hears us every time we ask him, we know we have what we ask from him." vs16 If anyone sees a brother or sister sinning that person should pray, and God will give the sinner life."

So, for me, an interpretation for this scripture could be about praying for the lost and knowing that they will someday find Jesus and invite Him into their hearts.

And then it leads into "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you!"

He knows our needs and wants. He asks that we seek Him and His
Kingdom first, and discover all that he has for you - way above and beyond anything you could ever do for yourself.

I don't know about you folks, but I've spent an awful lot of my life praying for people, problems, finances, what I want and need, etc. And sometimes I don't feel like God is there or hearing me at all. But I have found out in my many years, that when I truly do seek the kingdom of God, everything falls into place - some right now, some down the road. Some not how I expected at all. God had a better idea. Seeking first the Kingdom of God to me means my "appointment with my King Jesus. Read the bible. Listen for his word to me. Get to know Him. And then present our needs - and wants - to him and he will hear us. And He will answer us! Alleluia! Praise God! He is so good!

It is such a comfort to know that God hears us. Thank you for your wisdom, Mom. I will not stop praying for the lost!

I don't think i could ever stop learning about God. And I am so thankful that He answers my prayers. Like i said in my previous post, on His time and in His way. I just have to open my eyes and my heart and continue to reach out to Him.
